I agree, the crowds are much less on
Kodiak due to its remoteness. One thing I've found is if your fishing a popular area of Alaska, it can be shoulder to shoulder at some spots which takes away from the experience. I have been to Kodiak Island for fly fishing and plan to come back. One place I'd recommend is
Chiniak Anglers Lodge www.kodiakfishinglodge.com. It is way down the road from downtown Kodiak so you get out to good fishing spots earlier and before everyone who stays in town. I'd recommend any Kodiak fishing lodge as opposed to a motel for obvious reasons, Im biased because of good fishing I've had there . But you must go, the salmon runs are awesome and I think there is a fishery on the island pumping out tons of fish yearly.
